OREANDA-NEWS. At the GAZ Group plant in Nizhny Novgorod, the production of the new Skoda Octavia began. The previous generation model was produced at the facilities of this enterprise from June 2013, reported the press service of Skoda Auto Russia.

As the head of the Skoda brand in Russia, Ian Prochazka, noted, Octavia remains one of the most popular models of Skoda in Russia. With the launch of the new Octavia, the company intends to strengthen its success, and the launch of local production is the first step in this strategy.

The new Skoda Octavia will be produced locally at the facilities of the GAZ Group plant in Nizhny Novgorod by using the CKD-method. The production of the full cycle means that the plant receives the details and components of the future model, which are in place of welding processes, double priming, painting, anti-corrosion treatment with hot wax and the secret composition of Volkswagen concern. The factory installs an engine, gearbox, glued glass; there are mounted seats, fixed logos.

For the model, it is available a line of three gasoline engines. The unit 1.6 MPI (110 hp) is offered with 5-MCP and 6-automatic transmission, 1.4 TSI (150 hp) and 1.8 TSI (180 hp) versions are combined with 6-MCP and robotic DSG- 7.
