OREANDA-NEWS  An expressway collapsed in the southern province of Guangdong, China. As a result of the incident, 18 cars were trapped under the rubble, China Central Television reported.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 1, at about 2:10 (21:10 Tuesday Moscow time) on the expressway that leads from Guangdong Province to Fujian Province. "31 people were rescued, all of them were sent to the hospital," the publication notes.

Rescuers and firefighters are working at the scene, traffic on the highway is blocked.

Earlier, a landslide washed away part of the national highway in India. The highway connects the cities of Ring and Oni, located 83 kilometers from the Indian-Chinese border. According to officials, the highway has strategic importance for the security of the state.
