OREANDA-NEWS. The International Iron and Steel Institute has published the data according to which the world production of crude steel in October 2006 has made 105 million 855 thousand tons that exceeded parameters of October 2005 by 7,4 %.

Asia produced 57 million 274 thousand tons of steel (12,2 %). China produced 37 million 684 thousand tons (18 %). Japan made 10 million 115 thousand tons (4,5 %), South Korea - 4 million 20 thousand tons (-5,9 %), India - 3 million 685 thousand tons (2,6 %), Taiwan - approximately 1 million 770 thousand tons (15,6 %).

In 25 EU countries crude steel production in October 2006 made 17 million 351 thousand tons of not refined steel (3,5 %). Germany produced 4 million 237 thousand tons (4,1 %), in Italy - 2 million 953 thousand tons (5,9 %), in France - 1 million 615 thousand tons (-7 %), in Spain - nearby 1 million 725 thousand tons (4,9 %), in the Great Britain - 1 million 152 thousand tons (5,7 %), in Belgium - 1 million tons (13,6 %).

The CIS countries produced 10 million 65 thousand tons of steel (1,2 %). In Russia output made approximately 5 million 880 thousand tons (3,2 %), in Ukraine - approximately 3 million 460 thousand tons (-1,8 %).

In Northern America output totalled 10 million 730 thousand tons of steel (-1,5 %), in the USA - approximately 7 million 810 thousand tons (-4,7 %), in Mexico - approximately 1 million 470 thousand tons (12,9 %).

South America produced 4 million 48 thousand tons (6,1 %). In Brazil output has made 2 million 787 thousand tons (4,2 %).

In Africa output totalled 1 million 464 thousand tons of steel (1,8 %). In the Near East production made 1 million 236 thousand tons (0,3 %).
