OREANDA-NEWS. The International Iron and Steel Institute has published the data according to which the world production of crude steel in January-February 2007 has made 206 million 20 thousand tons that exceeded parameters of January-February 2006 at the rate of 186 million 430 thousand tons by 10,5%.

In Asia crude steel production totalled 112 million 295 thousand tons (16,3 %). In China output has made 74 million 254 thousand tons (23,1%). Japan produced 19 million 264 thousand tons (5,1%).

In 27 EU countries crude steel production in January-February 2007 has made 34 million 762 thousand tons (6,7%).

Production in the CIS countries made 20 million 311 thousand tons of steel (11,3%).

Northern America produced 19 million 570 thousand tons of steel (-8%). In the USA output has made 14 million 643 thousand tons (-7,4%).

South America produced 7 million 408 thousand tons (5,8%).

Crude steel output in Africa made 3 million 86 thousand tons (9%).

Output in the Near East made 2 million 497 thousand tons (2,5%).
