OREANDA-NEWS. According to analytic center Millennium Capital with reference to International Iron and Steel Institute's (IISI) ratings, Ukraine and Russia are ranked among the world's 8 largest steel producers, occupying 8 and 4  places, respectively.  As of August 2007, Russia's steel production amounted to 48.321 million tons, and Ukraine's - 28.432 million tons, with respective market shares 3.1 and 5.2 percent.

The other 6 countries are ranked as follows in respect of their world market share (which is not actually the same as a total steel output): China - 17.7 percent; Japan - 3.9 percent; USA - 3.5 percent; Southern Korea - 6.0 percent; Germany - 4.2 percent and India - 6.1 percent.
