OREANDA-NEWS. On October 09, 2008 Metalloinvest Management Company has become a member of the International Iron and Steel Institute - one of the largest industry associations in the world which unites about 180 steel producers, national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes, reported the press-centre of Metalloinvest.

The decision was taken at IISI annual conference in Washington on the 6th of October. Metalloinvest representatives participate in the forum. 

The general director of Metalloinvest Management Company Maxim Gubiev was elected at the conference a member of IISI Board of Directors. Maxim Gubiev is positive that a membership in IISI will enable Metalloinvest as a prominent market player to participate in the international steel industry development, to share information and experience with the leading steel producers, to trace trends of the industry’s development and examine the best available technologies. 
 
At the conference the International Iron and Steel Institute changed its name to the World Steel Association and elected a new chairman - Lakshmi Mittal, chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal. IISI was formed in 1967; its members produce around 85% of the world's steel.
