OREANDA-NEWS. S&P Global Ratings assigned its 'A' long-term rating to Cuyama Joint Unified School District, Calif.'s general obligation (GO) bonds, election of 2016, series A. The outlook is stable.

"The rating reflects our view of the district's maintenance of strong reserves and stable enrollment," said S&P Global Ratings credit analyst Li Yang. "Further supporting the rating is our view of the district's good local economy," Mr. Yang added.

We understand bond proceeds will be used to fund the district's ongoing capital improvements.

The district is located in Cuyama Valley and encompasses an area of roughly 300 square miles located along the Cuyama River in central California, in northern Santa Barbara, southern San Luis Obispo, and northwestern Ventura counties. The district serves a population of only 2,000 people, according to district management, and is sparsely populated.
