OREANDA-NEWS. Deputy Chairman of Sberbank’s Executive Board Stanislav Kuznetsov said at the Eastern Economic Forum that it is necessary to develop a well-coordinated international strategy to combat cybersecurity as soon as possible. This was part of his speech during the session “Cybercrime: The Key Threat to the Digital Economy”.

Given its expertise and accumulated competencies, Sberbank is ready to oversee the creation of an international technological platform to exchange information. It may take a relatively short period of time, 1-2 years. This platform could ensure non-stop interaction between computer emergency response teams in various countries and identify cyberattacks at their early stages.

“What makes us rush with this agenda? The answer is obvious: it is enough to look at the dynamics and the sophistication of cyber threats,” said Mr Kuznetsov. “For example, global business suffered $400 bln of damages from cybercrime in 2015 and $445 bln in 2016, while damages are expected to total $650 bln in 2017! We are witnessing the appearance of new viruses that are aimed at subordinating information systems and processes. Hackers target citizens, public structures, and social and commercial organisations.”

According to Mr Kuznetsov, Sberbank is ready to act as a technical administrator of the platform and to offer interested structures to join this platform to promptly receive information about the activities of criminal groups, which will be an appropriate response to the growing wave of cyberthreats.
