OREANDA-NEWS. Vnesheconombank has financed the delivery of the first two Sukhoi Superjets 100 to Aeroflot Airlines. VEB Leasing, a VEB Group company, has already handed the two aircraft units over to the air carrier.

“For VEB, this landmark deal is part of our comprehensive approach to the aviation industry development. As Aeroflot’s key partner, Vnesheconombank contributed to the construction of Terminal D at Sheremetyevo Airport. Before the year is out, we expect ten more jets to be delivered to the air company,” pointed out Vnesheconombank’s First Deputy Chairman - Member of the Management Board Dmitry Kurdyukov.

In July this year, the Supervisory Board of Vnesheconombank approved VEB’s co-financing for the lease of twenty new Sukhoi Superjets 100 to Aeroflot. To this end, VEB and its lease subsidiary signed a USD 700,920,000 loan agreement in August 2017.

“Undoubtedly, one cannot promote new aircraft in the current aviation market environment without a strong financial partner. This SSJ-100 deal illustrates a quality interaction between a manufacturer (Sukhoi Civil Aircraft) and VEB Leasing in order to offer consumers a competitive domestically manufactured product,” stressed Yuriy Gaichenya, Director General of VEB Leasing.

The contract for the delivery of twenty SSJ-100 jets was signed between Vnesheconombank, United Aircraft Corporation and Aeroflot Airlines at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS 2017 in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
