OREANDA-NEWS. The Chicago Board Options Exchange® (CBOE®) announced today that Thomas Knorring, CBOE Vice President, Business Development, has been inducted into the Inside Market Data Hall of Fame. Knorring was honored during an award ceremony in New York City on May 18, 2016.

Knorring, the 31st inductee into the Inside Market Data Hall of Fame, was recognized for significant contributions and lifetime achievements in the market data industry.

During his 38 years at CBOE, Knorring has been instrumental in leading CBOE’s development and management of its market data services. He has played a key role in modernizing CBOE’s market data systems to stay ahead of the industry’s rapidly increasing quote and messaging traffic. He also oversaw the exchange’s creation of its first electronic book and auto quote system, the processes to facilitate quicker openings and automate pit broker trading, and the processing and distribution of CBOE’s own proprietary data, including the S&P 100 Index (OEX®) and the CBOE Volatility Index® (VIX® Index). Over the past several years, Knorring developed, expanded and oversaw CBOE’s Market Data Express and Market Data Sales operations, providing enhanced market data services to customers of CBOE.

Additionally, Knorring was the first non-stock exchange executive to serve as chairman of both the CTA (Consolidated Tape Association) and the UTP (Unlisted Trading Privileges), the industry networks that collect and disseminate real-time trade and quote information from the U.S. stock exchanges. For the options industry, he served as CBOE’s representative to the Options Price Reporting Authority (OPRA).

The Inside Market Data Hall of Fame, established in 2010, honors the builders, leaders and organizers who have made a profound difference in the market data industry over the past 30 years. Their ability to create new products, inspire action in others or take it upon themselves to effect change, has contributed to making the industry what it is today. Knorring joins an illustrious list of current Hall of Fame members including Tom Davin, Bill Lee, David Gershon and Barry Raskin.
