OREANDA-NEWS. S&P Global Ratings assigned its 'A+' rating to Southwestern Community School District, Wis.'s series 2016 general obligation (GO) school improvement bonds. The outlook is stable.

"The rating reflects our view of the district's very strong general fund reserves and strong per capita market value," said S&P credit analyst Helen Samuelson. "The rating further reflects our view of the district's access to employment opportunities in Dubuque, Iowa, Platteville, Wis., and Galena, Ill.," Ms. Samuelson added.

The $5.5 million series 2016 bonds are being issued to finance projects that will increase the energy efficiency of the district's school facilities.

Southwestern Community School District, Wisconsin School serves an estimated population of 4,102. The district is located mainly in Grant County in southwestern Wisconsin, near the Iowa and Illinois state borders. The district is about 15 miles from Dubuque, and many people commute there, or to Platteville Wisconsin.
