OREANDA-NEWS. EAEU countries are interested in the system of quick payments developed by the Bank of Russia, but the connection of foreign banks has not yet begun. This was reported to journalists by the head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina on the sidelines of the meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

"We are in the process of discussion. There is interest, but so far we have not moved on to practical implementation", she said. Nabiullina added that the issue of joining foreign banks to Russian systems raises the question of their compatibility. In early 2019, the Bank of Russia launched the Quick Payment System, which allows Russians to transfer money by phone number. Now 22 credit organizations are connected to the quick payment system, including ten systemically important banks.

Also, within the framework of the quick payment system, it's possible to pay for goods and services using a QR code in stores. The commission for outlets will be significantly lower than for card acquiring. For example, for everyday goods, medical and educational services, the tariff is set at 0.4%, for the rest - 0.7%. These tariffs began to operate on October 1, 2019.
