OREANDA-NEWSThe Prime Minister of Belarus Sergey Rumas called on the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to aim for a serious de-dollarization of the EAEU economy, especially with regard to fuel and energy and raw materials. He made such a statement on Friday at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council with the participation of the heads of government of the EAEU countries in a video conference format.

"It's necessary to focus on serious work to de-dollarize the EAEU economy, dramatically increasing the formation of prices and payments for goods and services delivered within the EAEU market in national currencies, especially for fuel and energy and raw materials", he said. Rumas emphasized that the pandemic has demonstrated the importance of pursuing common policies in the EAEU in the field of industry and agriculture, and joint import substitution programs.

He emphasized that if this approach is supported, then the participants in today's meeting will easily agree on the draft Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025, ensuring, as the heads of state instructed", the ambitiousness of this document and through its implementation the creation of a real economic union and prerequisites for deeper integration".
