OREANDA-NEWS. Fritzi Köhler-Geib, chief economist at KfW bank, said on the air of the German television channel NTV that the German economy should have grown in 2022, but given “serious negative risks, everything could turn out differently.” She noted that if the leadership of Germany imposes an embargo on Russian energy resources, then prices for goods and products may rise even more. The expert added that other factors also influence the negative dynamics, for example, problems with supplies from China due to the coronavirus.

An embargo on the supply of Russian energy resources could lead to further price increases, falling wages and negative dynamics in the labor market, Koehler-Gabe shared.

Experts point out that record inflation in the country is directly related to the energy crisis due to the refusal of Russian gas.

Senator Alexei Pushkov previously called Europe a hostage to anti-Russian politics because of its position on Russian gas supplies. He pointed out that the will of politicians overpowers economic well-being and its needs. He cited Finland and Germany as an example, which decided to abandon Russian fuel. He urged to think about new sales markets for Russian energy resources.
