OREANDA-NEWS The French authorities decided to block all accounts of Russians against whom sanctions were imposed in the EU because of Ukraine. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of France, Bruno Le Maire, TASS reported.

"We will use all necessary means to block the accounts of those Russian political and economic figures in France, against whom sanctions have been imposed," the minister said.

The French Finance minister also said that disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT interbank system is still possible, but he considers it an "extreme measure."

French President Emmanuel Macron said earlier after an emergency EU summit that France intends to supplement the EU's anti-Russian measures with its own sanctions.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said earlier that the new package of sanctions would affect 70% of the Russian banking market and key state-owned companies, RT wrote. The head of the EC also said that as part of the new package of sanctions, the EU will impose a ban on the sale of aircraft, spare parts and equipment for Russian airlines. Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of the Aviport agency, previously told 360 that aviation sanctions would require a radical restructuring of all supply chains.

The EU has previously expanded sanctions against Russia due to the recognition of the independence of the DPR and LPR. Restrictions were imposed against 351 State Duma deputies who supported this decision. After that, the list began to include 555 individuals and 52 organizations.
