OREANDA-NEWSGazprom will not, as planned, place Eurobonds in Swiss francs this week. The reason for this decision was that the Ukrainian Naftogaz, which is seeking the enforcement of the decision of the Stockholm arbitration, can make claims on these funds. It's reported by Interfax, citing a source. The information was confirmed by an interlocutor of the Russian media, close to Gazprom, and a source in the company itself.

The new bond program was fully prepared, however, the company's lawyers could not guarantee that, having entered the European borrowing market, Gazprom would not lose funds under the requirements of Naftogaz. By a decision of the arbitration in Stockholm, Gazprom remains to the Ukrainian company $ 2.56 billion, but so far the Russian gas giant refuses to pay these funds.

“There will be no issue of bonds,” a senior source at Gazprom confirmed to the Russian media. He specified that the placement was postponed due to the risks of seizure of payments on judicial claims of Naftogaz. The deputy chairman of the board of Gazprom Famil Sadigov said earlier that the placement of bonds could take place before the end of 2019 or in 2020.
