OREANDA-NEWS. «Gazprom» shares resumed their climb on Friday, June 4, and renewed their highs since 2008 after Russian President Vladimir Putin's statements on the «Nord Stream 2» at the SPIEF plenary session. On the Moscow Stock Exchange, Gazprom's shares rose to 274.25 rubles (+1%) by 14:41, the maximum of transactions was $274.59 rubles (about $3).

According to Putin, on Friday, the laying of pipes along the first line of the «Nord Stream 2» gas pipeline was completed, it is already ready to be filled with gas. The President also noted that Russia is ready to implement such projects as «Nord Stream 2» with it's partners in the future.

Recall that the project includes the construction of two lines with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The pipeline will run from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. «Nord Stream 2» is implemented by 95%. The United States actively opposes the construction. Nevertheless, the head of the White House, Joe Biden, did not impose sanctions against «Nord Stream 2 AG», which is the operator of the project. Washington explained this decision by national interests.

As previously stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the Russian government expects that the construction of the «Nord Stream 2» will be completed by the end of 2021.
