OREANDA-NEWS. The German Federal government wants to allocate an additional 1.5 billion euros for the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic. This follows from the proposal of the German Ministry of Finance, sent to the Bundestag budget committee. A copy of the document is available to «Reuters».

Of this amount, 620 million euros will be allocated for the supply of vaccines to developing countries, and another 100 million euros for vaccines to be distributed for humanitarian purposes. Additional funds are provided for research in the field of vaccinations, diagnostics and support of health systems.

The German authorities are going to keep the lockdown in force after February 14, when it officially expires. This follows from a draft statement prepared on the eve of a meeting on February 10 of representatives of federal authorities and lands, at which further measures to combat the coronavirus will be discussed. The draft statement emphasizes, that the lockdown can last until March.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, In Germany the daily increase in coronavirus infections was 8,072 cases. In total, since the beginning of the epidemic in Germany, 2,299,996 cases of infection have been detected. Over the past 24 hours, 813 people have died, the total number of deaths was 62,969.
