OREANDA-NEWS. The total volume of money transfers from Russia to Georgia from January to September this year amounted to $ 309.3 million, which is 8% less compared to the same period in 2018. This is evidenced by the statistics of the National Bank of Georgia published on Tuesday.

According to the National Bank, the most money was transferred from Russia to Georgia in July ($ 39 million), and the least - in January ($ 27.6 million). Over the three quarters of this year, the share of transfers from Russia amounted to 24% of the total amount of money transferred. Despite the decline in remittances, Russia still ranks first among the countries where Georgia receives the most money from. In second place is Italy. From January to September 2019, $ 174.4 million was transferred from Italy to Georgia, which is 25% more compared to the same data for 2018. Greece closes the top three, from where $ 141.1 million was transferred from January to September, which is 47% less than last year.
