OREANDA-NEWS. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said in an interview with the Polish Press Agency that Ukraine has received € 17 billion in aid from the European Union since 2014.

“The EU has provided Ukraine with an unprecedented amount of assistance of 17 billion euros since 2014. The EU is ready to continue to provide other types of financial support, such as, for example, the already approved € 31 million aid package to strengthen the armed forces, in particular their cyber defense capabilities, ”Borrell said.

The head of European Union diplomacy plans to visit Ukraine from 4 to 6 January.

Earlier it became known that Josep Borrell will go to the contact line in Donbass.

The trip is intended to highlight the strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity from the EU at a time, according to the European Commission, "when the country is faced with a build-up of Russian military power and hybrid actions."

Borrel will be accompanied by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

First, they will go to the east of the country and the "line of contact". Later they will go to Kiev, where they will meet with representatives of the state authorities.
