OREANDA-NEWS The number of Russians living below the poverty line increased by 3.9 million from 2012 to 2017. On Thursday, February 14, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova.

"In 1999, the absolute number of Russians living below the poverty line was 41.6 million (28.4%)," the politician said at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

According to Golikova, the situation changed by 2007, when the number of people below the poverty line fell to 18.8 million. At the same time, 2012 was the most successful year, when the number of poor was 15.4 million people, which is 10.7% of the total.

"Now the basic level of poverty from which we start moving towards the implementation of the national goal is 19.3 million people, or 13.2%," she said, noting that this is the data of 2017.

On January 15, Golikova said that the number of Russians living below the poverty line for the nine months of 2018 decreased by 0.5 percentage points.

According to the data, in 2017 the poverty level in the Republic of Tuva was observed at the level of 41.5%. In 2018, according to the presentation, this indicator should be reduced. At the same time, by 2024 the region should reduce the poverty level to 10%, according to the graph.

Meanwhile, in the Belgorod region poverty is fixed at the level of 7.9%, by 2024 it is planned to reach the figure of 4.6%.

According to the decree of the President of Russia "on national goals and strategic objectives of development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024" dated May 7, 2018, poverty should be halved, life expectancy increased to 78 years, housing conditions will be able to improve at least 5 million families annually, and the number of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs will reach 25 million.
