OREANDA-NEWSUkrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov, owner of SCM Holdings Limited, an investment company, has purchased a villa Les Cedres in France from Italian wine and soft drinks producer Campari Group.

“The company sees the asset as a long-term investment”, the SCM statement said. They did n't specify whether Akhmetov would use the mansion as a private residence. According to Bloomberg and the Financial Times, the deal amounted to € 200 million ($ 220 million).

The 14-bedroom mansion is located in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in the Provence region of southeastern France. The villa is located on an area of ​​14 thousand hectares. It was built in 1870, in 1904 it was acquired by the Belgian king Leopold II. In the 1920s, the mansion was sold to the Marnier-Lapostol family, the Grand Marnier brandy maker.

In 2016, Campari bought the Grand Marnier Group, at the same time the mansion moved to the Italian company. Akhmetov is called the richest man in Ukraine. According to Forbes, his fortune is estimated at $ 6.7 billion. The magazine placed him on the 272 line in the global list of the richest people in the world.
