OREANDA-NEWS The ruble is depreciating against the dual-currency basket amid various statements by representatives of the Russian authorities during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

For example, Nikolai Solabuto, Managing Director of Finam Management, previously claimed that the ruble is extremely sensitive to statements made at SPIEF. He said that after these St. Petersburg forums, the strengthening of the ruble had always been noted.

Solabuto also added: "Most likely, we will see that the price per dollar will fall below 55 rubles, based on the statements that will take place during the forum. I think that at this moment all analysts will start saying that the next goal is a return to the rate of 35 rubles per dollar. We must be prepared for this information shock".

However, the situation is not so optimistic, as it was expected. The first transactions in the US dollar were in the range of 56.69 - 56.95 rubles. According to the results of the first minute of trading, the rate was 56.94 rubles (which is 44 kopecks more than the level of the previous close). At the same time, the euro rose to 59.325 rubles. (+31.5 kopecks by Thursday's close). The dual-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) grew by 38.37 kopecks (to 58.01 rubles) to the closing level on June 16. Meanwhile, the dollar turned out to be 7.09 kopecks above the level of the current official exchange rate, and the euro - by 36.82 kopecks above the official rate.
