OREANDA-NEWS. SSE is delighted to announce the start of an exciting new partnership with Teach First which will see the two organisations join forces to raise the aspirations of girls in low-income communities across England.

Over the next 12 months, SSE and Teach First will work together on two strands of activity to help girls reach their full potential in the areas of sport and science.

As the flagship partner for Women in STEM, senior SSE employees will go into classrooms to show pupils the opportunities available to all in the energy sector. They will also take part in a workplace programme allowing pupils to visit SSE sites for a behind the scenes look at the different career paths open to them.

SSE is also using its sponsorship of The SSE Women's FA Cup to encourage girls from low-income communities to get involved with grassroots football projects and provide inspirational role models at partner schools.

Girls the length of the country will be given a number of opportunities to be involved in The SSE Women’s FA Cup from helping with the draws for the cup to hearing inspirational talks from female footballers in the classroom. This is a unique opportunity for pupils from low-income backgrounds to engage in a national sporting event.
