OREANDA-NEWS. German football club Bayern Munich defeated Spanish Sevilla in extra time with the score 2:1 in the UEFA Super Cup final and became a winner of the tournament.

The match took place at the Ferenc Puskas Stadium in Budapest. Among winners, Leon Goretzka  and Javi Martinez scored goals in 34th and 104th minutes, respectively. From Sevilla, Lucas Ocampos scored a goal from the penalty spot in the 13th minute.

The match was played with spectators. The stadium can accommodate about 67 thousand people, but it was allowed to fill only 30 % of the full load of the arena: more than 15.1 thousand tickets were sold.

Bayern Munich has won the UEFA Super Cup for the second time in its history. For the first time this happened in 2013.

As for Sevilla, its footballers set a peculiar record for the number of defeats in final matches of the UEFA Super Cup, losing the fifth final in the history of the tournament.
