OREANDA-NEWS. The matches of the German football championship will resume on May 9, the country’s Health Minister, Jens Spahn said.

“On a condition that matches are held without spectators, it will be possible to resume the championship. It is imperative to minimize the risk of infection for everyone. The resumption of the tournament from May 9 will be a good sign for millions of football fans, even if the stands are empty,” the politician explained.

Earlier, Christian Seifert, a Chief Executive Officer of the German Football League, said that the Bundesliga matches can be played without spectators until the end of 2020. He added that the timing of the resumption of the championship should be approved during negotiations with the government.
