OREANDA-NEWS. Three of the world's most famous tennis players - Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer - have refused to participate in the Miami Open, the first tennis tournament in the United States this year. The stars of the ATP and WTA tour are massively withdrawn from the American competition.

The Miami Masters Series was supposed to grace nearly all the Top 10 players in both the men's and women's categories. However, the coronavirus pandemic, special conditions for holding competitions in the United States and a sharp decrease in the prize fund have done their job: the big three of world tennis in the person of Djokovic, Nadal and Federer will not come to America.

At the same time, the Swiss Federer is trying to get in shape after an injury, so at least he has some excuse that he will play only in one of the tournaments in the Middle East before the start of the clay season. Serbian Djokovic and Spaniard Nadal did not explain their absence in Miami.

It should be said that such stars of the men's tour as Swiss Stan Wawrinka, Australian Nick Kyrios, Austrian Dominic Tim, Italian Matteo Berrettini, French Gilles Simon, Gael Monfils and Richard Gasquet refused to go to the USA with them. In the women's section there will definitely not be titled American Serena Williams, as well as Belgian Kim Clijsters, Czech women Karolina Mukhova and Barbora Strytsova, our Anastasia Pavlyuchenskova.
