OREANDA-NEWS. Former world champion in eight weight categories, famous boxer Manny Pacquiao has officially announced his retirement from boxing at the age of 42. Boxer had previously run for president of the Philippines. Pacquiao made an official statement on his Twitter page, where he addressed his fans.

«Thank you to the greatest and most loyal fans and the greatest sport in the world! Thank you for all the wonderful memories. This is the hardest decision I've ever made. Follow your dream, work hard and watch what happens. Goodbye, boxing», Pacquiao wrote.

In the last match, Pacquiao lost on points to Cuban Yordenis Ugas and lost his WBC world title to him.

As previously reported, the Manny Pacquiao has put forward his candidacy for the post of president of the Philippines. He is supported by the country's ruling party, the «Philippine Democratic Party-The Power of the People».
