OREANDA-NEWS Deadly tropical diseases due to changes in mosquito populations can spread in Central Russia.

Izvestia reports citing epidemiologists.

According to them, dangerous insects from Egypt and Southeast Asia, carriers of the viruses Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika and yellow fever, settled along the entire Black Sea coast and in Crimea. It is noted that outbreaks of certain diseases have already been recorded in the southern regions. Scientists warn that after the bite of one such mosquito tourist, an epidemic can cover the whole region.

Experts explained that two types of mosquitoes, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, moved to southern Russia due to global warming. The former are easily recognizable by the white marks on the legs and back, the latter by the spotted abdomen and black and white stripes on the legs. Both species are also able to carry larvae of filamentous worms of the genus Dirofilaria (Dirofilaria), which cause serious damage to internal organs in humans and animals.
