This decision was made after a meeting of the Board of Directors. Bartomeu announced his resignation as president along with all Board members. He added that this is a well thought-out decision, agreed with all his colleagues.

Earlier, the fans of Barcelona collected the required number of signatures to issue a vote of no confidence to Bartomeu and the rest of the club’s management. The President is accused of corruption, in particular, deriving personal financial gain from transactions carried out on behalf of the football club. In addition, he is suspected of organizing cyber attacks against his opponents, footballers Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique, as well as former Barcelona players Xavi, Carles Puyol and ex-head coach Josep Guardiola.
