OREANDA-NEWS. Russia's Anna Sidorova and Alexei Timofeev failed to qualify for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing in the mixed doubles competition.

Sidorova and Timofeyev lost in the semi-finals of the mixed doubles qualifiers to Americans Vicky Persinger and Chris Place 4-6. The results of the competition saw the USA and Australia qualify for the Beijing Games.

At the 2018 Olympics, Russia's Anastasia Bryzgalova and Alexander Krushelnitsky won bronze in the discipline, but were subsequently stripped of the award due to partner doping.

Another trip to Beijing in the double-mix via qualifying in the Netherlands was won by the Australians.

The 30-year-old Sidorova is silver and four-time world championship bronze medallist, two-time European champion, and a competitor at the 2010 and 2014 Olympics. The 30-year-old Timofeev has also competed for the Russian national team in the classic curling event. But they both failed to make the main teams for the Olympic season and decided to try their luck in the double-mix and won the national selection.

The Beijing Olympics will be held from February 4 to 20, 2022. At the last Olympics, Russia's Alexander Krushelnitskiy and Anastasia Bryzgalova won bronze, but were disqualified because Krushelnitskiy was found to have banned meldonium in his doping sample.
