OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Sergei Karasev has been appointed chief referee for the second round match of the European Football Championship group stage between the national teams of Italy and Switzerland. This was reported by the press service of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

Russians Igor Demeshko and Maxim Gavrilin were appointed as assistants.

The match of the second round of Group A will be held on June 16 in Rome and will start at 22:00 Moscow time.

Earlier at Euro 2020, Karasev worked as a reserve referee in the match of the first round of the group stage Euro Austria - North Macedonia (3: 1). He will serve for the third time in a UEFA European Championship match in his career as Chief Arbiter. At Euro 2016 he was appointed chief for the matches Romania - Switzerland and Iceland - Hungary. He also has a job as a chief referee at the 2018 World Cup Australia - Peru.
