OREANDA-NEWS. The Seattle Kraken lost to the Vegas Golden Knights with a score of 3:4 in their debut match in the regular championships of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The first goal of Seattle in the NHL was scored by Ryan Donato, followed by Jared McCann, Morgan Geeky. Max Pacioretty, Jonathan Marchessault, Chandler Stevenson scored goals for the winners.

Seattle is owned by a group of investors led by David Bonderman, co-owner of the NBA club Boston and an investment fund. Also included in the investor group is Jerome Leon Bruckheimer, producer of many box office films, including, for example, "Armageddon", "Pearl Harbor", "Pirates of the Caribbean", etc. The presentation of the club took place in the summer of 2020. To participate in the NHL, investors led by Bonderman paid an entry fee of  $650 million.

The first CEO of the club was two-time Stanley Cup winner Ron Francis, the head coach was Dave Hextall.

Seattle plays in the Pacific Division instead of Arizona, which has moved to the Central. The team was formed as a result of the expansion draft.

This is not the first club from Seattle that played in the NHL or the league that preceded it. In 1915-1924, the Seattle Metropolitans, who played in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, were based in the city. In 1917, the team won the Stanley Cup - the first among American teams. Then Seattle defeated the Montreal Canadiens in the final, by far the most decorated club in the NHL.

Seattle became the second rookie in the NHL in the last five years. In 2017, Vegas joined the league, which reached the Stanley Cup finals in its debut season.
