OREANDA-NEWS The number of disabled children in Russia is growing annually by 15-25 thousand people, Kommersant writes.

“In 2016–2018, the number of Russians with disabilities significantly decreased. However, childhood disability due to mental and nervous disorders and congenital anomalies has grown, ”the publication said. At the same time, in all other age ranges, including retirement and pre-retirement, a reduction in the number of people with people with disabilities was observed.

The total number of disabled people over 18 fell from 12.1 to 11.3 million by the beginning of the current year. At the same time, the indicator reflecting the percentage of persons who were denied disability in recent years remained at about the same level - from 13.4% to 14.3% of the total number of applications.

According to statistics, diseases related to blood circulation most often lead to disability (35.4%). Next are malignant neoplasms (12.2%), diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (7.9%), as well as mental and behavioral disorders (7.8%). However, since 2016 it is malignant neoplasms that occupy the first line among the diseases forming the primary disability.
