OREANDA-NEWS. The winner and medalist of the World Athletics Championships Sergey Shubenkov, the World Pole Vaulting Champion Angelica Sidorova, the three-time world champion in high jump Maria Lasitskene and seven more athletes joined the Russian national team to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, according to the website of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF).

On Sunday in Cheboksary, after the end of the Russian athletics championship, a meeting of the coaching council was held, at which the issue of recruiting the Russian team to participate in the Olympic Games was discussed. Due to the fact that ARAF is deprived of its full status in the World Athletics Association, Russia has the right to send only ten athletes to the Tokyo Olympics, who will perform in neutral status. On Monday, these ten people were approved by a working group led by Acting President of ARAF Irina Privalova.

The complete list of Russian athletes for the Tokyo Games is as follows: Ilya Ivanyuk (high jump), Angelica Sidorova (pole vault), Mikhail Akimenko (high jump), Daria Klishina (long jump), Sergei Shubenkov (110 meters with hurdles), Ilya Shkurenev (decathlon), Vasily Mizinov (race walking), Maria Lasitskene (high jump), Elvira Khasanova (race walking), Valery Pronkin (hammer throw).

The Olympic Games in Tokyo will be held from July 23 to August 8.
