WADA "Sees no Problem" with Holding Swimming World Cup in Russia in 2022
"December is the last month of restrictions. We have contacted WADA and asked them about these dates, they see no problem,"- Al-Mussallam said.
Kazan won the right to host the 2017 event, with the tournament scheduled for 17-22 December.
In mid-December 2020, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) barred Russia from hosting, bidding for or receiving the right to host the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games or World Championships for two years until 17 December 2022.
At the time of the ruling, the country was scheduled to host world championships in volleyball, beach football, rock climbing, wrestling and shortstroke swimming. They could be held if it was legally or practically impossible to postpone the tournament. Russia will host the wrestling tournament later, while the others have taken place or will take place as originally planned.
