OREANDA-NEWS. 93 mercenaries from Syria were killed in Nagorno-Karabakh, a source in the Syrian opposition told Russian news agency RIA Novosti. According to him, the bodies of 53 of them were delivered to Syria the day before. 430 people were sent to the conflict zone over the weekend, journalists’ interlocutor said.

Another source reported that as of October 1, there were 322 well-equipped Syrian mercenaries in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron claimed that Paris has information about the participation of Syrian militants in the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to him, more than 300 Syrian Islamists were transferred to the conflict zone through the Turkish city of Gaziantep. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev denies that the militants are fighting on their side; he demanded an apology from Macron. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, expressed concern about the involvement of militants from the Middle East in the conflict.
