OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2016. The Honourable Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Member of Parliament for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced federal funding of \\$547,166 for four projects in the town while the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development announced a Provincial Government investment of \\$342,564 in two of these projects.

The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is investing \\$478,000 through the Innovative Communities Fund (ICF) while the provincial Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, through the Regional Development Fund, is contributing \\$320,000 towards a project with the Town of Clarenville to re-develop and expand Elizabeth Swan Park. The project involves the expansion of green space for leisure and special events, the replacement and relocation of the cookhouse and pavilion and the construction of an amphitheater. 

The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is also investing \\$8,264 through the Business Development Program (BDP) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, through the Department of Advanced Education Skills and Labour’s Job Creation Partnerships Program, is providing \\$22,564 to support the Clarenville Area Chamber of Commerce in organizing its Business Symposium and Showcase 2016, taking place September 30 – October 1, 2016. 

Through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, the Government of Canada is contributing \\$53,332 to the Clarenville Nordic Ski Club to improve trails and amenities and \\$7,570 to the Clarenville Lion’s Club for the installation of an air conditioning unit in its building.
