OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has denied the message of the Azerbaijani side about 550 Armenian soldiers killed in Nagorno-Karabakh. “This information does not correspond to reality,” Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan told journalists.

According to the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, 31 people were killed in the fighting on the line of contact from the Armenian side. Earlier, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s Defense Ministry published the names of 15 dead servicemen. Prior to that, the agency reported of 16 dead soldiers.

On September 27, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced the beginning of a military operation on the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. According to the Ministry, a “counter-offensive operation” is being carried out in response to provocations from the Armenian side.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced an attack on the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic from Azerbaijan. Martial law has been declared in Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic; mobilization is underway.
