OREANDA-NEWS. The evolution of bilateral relations and the possibility to initiate joint projects in the ICT segment were discussed during a meeting of the ICT Deputy Minister, Vitalie Tarlev, and the project manager at the Institute of Information Society Development from South Korea, Mr. Insoo Kang.

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister has reiterated the Republic of Moldova  interest in attracting international experience concerning the information society development, especially from the Republic of Korea, which is one of the indisputable leaders in this regard. At the same time several fields for which the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications requires Korean experts’ advice were presented. In this context, Vitalie Tarlev highlighted the implementation of the National Cyber Security Program and the development of access to the broadband Internet.

The representatives of the Information Society Development Institute from South Korea presented their availability to provide support and to transpose the best practices at their disposal and gave the assurances that they will examine the proposals submitted by the Moldovan side in the elaboration of the new program of bilateral cooperation.

The ICT Deputy Minister thanked the Korean experts for their support in developing national policies on strengthening the cyber security, a cooperation program that was implemented during 2015 and culminated with the approval of the National Cyber Security Program by the Government. Previously the National Agency for the Information Society of Korea (NIA) helped to develop the National Strategy for Information Society Development "Digital Moldova 2020" and funded the opening of the Moldovan-Korean Information and Access center in Chisinau, which provides training and expertise on various dimensions connected to the ICT implementation in many areas.

Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) is a research institute funded by the Government, the main purpose of which is to provide visions and policy recommendations regarding the ICT field. For the successful implementation of the Information Technology National Agenda KISDI is involved.
