OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas will be attending the meeting of the European Council in Brussels today and tomorrow.

The heads of state and government of the European Union will be discussing the post-referendum situation of the United Kingdom.

The agenda includes discussions of migration issues with a focus on external aspects, including the situation in the Central Mediterranean area and cooperation with with third countries of origin and transit. In addition, EU leaders will give a summary of the implementation of the EU-Turkey application of 18 March 2016 and of the closure of the Western Balkan migration route.

EU leaders are also calling for intensifying the single market by placing extra emphasis on digital development. They will confirm country-specific recommendations for the first European Semester of 2016 and evaluate the first results of the European Fund for Strategic Investment. The European Council will also discuss EU-NATO cooperation ahead of the NATO Summit, which will be held in Warsaw, 8-9 June.
