OREANDA-NEWS. Two Azerbaijani senior officers died as a result of firing on the border with Armenia.

This was reported by Deputy Defense Minister, Kerim Veliyev. According to him, the fighting continues. “Unfortunately, I have to say that Major General Polad Khashimov and Colonel Ilgar Mirzeyev died as a result of the fighting,” Veliyev said at a briefing. He also stated that since July 12, up to 100 Armenian soldiers were killed, military equipment and the command post of the Armenian Armed Forces were destroyed.

The conflict between the countries escalated on July 12. Armed clashes occurred on the state border. Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of aggression. Baku said that 4 Azerbaijani soldiers and more than 20 Armenian were killed. Yerevan claimed that there are no losses among its military, except for a few wounded.
