OREANDA-NEWS. The Republic of Belarus will increase the number of border patrols in the Ukrainian direction. This was reported on July 30 by the official representative of the State Border Committee, Anton Bychkovsky.

According to him, the number of detachments will be increased both at the green border and at checkpoints, and the approach to strengthening the border regime will be complex. Border guards, in particular, will introduce additional control measures. “Also, the heads of the border agencies already have an agreement to strengthen checks at border checkpoints, control of persons and inspection of vehicles entering Belarus will be strengthened,” Bychkovsky explained.

On July 14, rallies in support of those unregistered as presidential candidates were held in Minsk and other cities of Belarus. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, over 250 protesters were detained in the capital city. The election is scheduled for August 9.
