OREANDA-NEWS. A senior Turkish official, having access to information on President’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s policy, told journalists of Bloomberg agency that the Turkish military’s use of “killer drone swarms” to combat Syrian government forces supported by Russia was a “military innovation” that proved Ankara’s technological capabilities on the battlefield.

According to him, in response to the Syrian airstrike that claimed the lives of 33 Turkish servicemen, Turkey deployed and used “unprecedented” number of drones for coordinated actions, for the first time in the history a swarm of drones made it possible to take control of such a large territory.

Bloomberg notes that dozens of drones attacked Syrian bases and arms depots and destroyed several anti-aircraft missile systems.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense published on its Twitter page a video of drone strikes on Syrian tanks, trucks and other objects.
