OREANDA-NEWS. Last week, border guards refused to let 595 foreigners into Belarus on various grounds, representative of the State Border Committee Anton Bychkovsky told reporters of BelTA news agency.

“The vast majority of them are strong young people of athletic build, who could not explain or confirm the purpose of their arrival in Belarus,” the official said. According to Bychkovsky, the most non-admitted persons tried to enter from neighbouring countries: Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania.

President Alexander Lukashenko has said more than once that certain forces from outside are trying to destabilize the situation in Belarus. Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei noted that the authorities have prevented the “Ukrainian scenario.” In August, Lukashenko said that the conflict in the country was planned and organized in the United States, which wants to “drag off Belarus” and direct it against Russia.
