OREANDA-NEWS. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the next stage of lifting restrictions is postponed for at least two weeks.

The reason is the rise in coronavirus cases in the country, the politician explained. The last daily increase was 846 infected people. “On Saturday 1 August we had hoped to reopen in England a number of the higher-risk settings that had remained closed… Today I am afraid we are postponing those changes for at least a fortnight,” Johnson said at a press conference.

Sports centers, bowling alleys, skating rinks, casinos, beauty salons, and some theaters were planned to open in Great Britain on August 1. They were also supposed to be allowed to hold weddings with 30 guests.

According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 303.9 thousand cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the United Kingdom for the entire time. 46 thousand patients died.
