“The trend in the UK is heading in the wrong direction and we are at a critical point in the pandemic. We are looking at the data to see how to manage the spread of the virus ahead of a very challenging winter period,” Reuters agency quoted him.

According to journalists, the spread of the disease in Great Britain began to slow after the introduction of a nationwide quarantine, but after the lifting of the most stringent measures and the resumption of the work of companies and educational institutions, the number of new cases of infection began to rise again.

As follows from data from the Johns Hopkins University, in total, 396.7 thousand cases of COVID-19 were registered in Great Britain. 41.8 thousand people died.
