OREANDA-NEWSLithuanian Ambassador to Russia and Uzbekistan Remigijus Motuzas is being removed from his post. The decision on this was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday at a meeting where a number of personnel issues were discussed with the recall and appointment of the heads of diplomatic missions of the Baltic Republic.

"The government decides to appeal to the president of the country with a recommendation on recalling the ambassador to the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan Motuzas", the Cabinet of Ministers said in a decision. The government recommended that the recall date be January 16.

The ambassadors of the Republic of Lithuania, upon the recommendation of the government and in agreement with the parliamentary committee on foreign policy, are appointed and recalled by the president of the country. The term of office of the Ambassador of Lithuania is three years with the possibility of extension. Credentials to Motuzas as ambassador to the Russian Federation by the President of Lithuania were presented at the beginning of 2015. On January 20, he took up his duties.
