OREANDA-NEWS. Pupils of the cadet school in Nizhny Novgorod received eye burns due to a working quartz lamp. The Russian media reports that from 12 to 17 cadets were injured, but in general their condition does not cause concern. A prosecutor's check has been organized on the fact of the incident, according to the website of the local prosecutor's office.

The prosecutor of the Leninsky district of Nizhny Novgorod will have to find out the reasons and circumstances of the incident. As the representative of the prosecutor's office clarified to «Interfax», cadets from the senior class who complained of eye problems turned to the doctors. The exact number of children is still unknown. The parents of the victims told local media that the cadets received burns to their eyes, as the employees of the institution allegedly forgot to turn off the quartz lamp.

The Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region reported that ophthalmologists examined 17 students of the cadet school. Their condition does not cause concern and does not require hospitalization. The regional department of the Investigative Committee reported that 12 cadets received burns to the mucous eyes, the incident occurred on September 7. An investigative check is being carried out on this fact. The local Ministry of Education, Science and Youth Policy also announced an official investigation into the incident.
