OREANDA-NEWS. China Central Television reported that country’s authorities imposed a temporary ban for residents of Wuhan (Hubei Province) to leave the city due to an outbreak of pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus.

“From 10 a.m. on January 23, the work of public transport in Wuhan, the metro, ferries and long-distance flights is temporarily suspended. For no particular reason, residents should not leave the city. Outbound trips from the airport and train stations are temporarily closed,” a statement of the emergency headquarters for combating the spread of the disease says.

The population of Wuhan is more than 11 million people.

Earlier, Chinese authorities announced that the death toll from a new type of coronavirus had increased to 17.
